What is your honest opinion on the state of the world right now?
Main Post:
We live in a world that is ever changing as a younger person I have never really known much different, yet I would like to know how other people feel these days.

Silksong feels like a world on its own and not a game made to cater to the player's needs
Main Post:
There are no tutorials in Silksong. You start at the bottom and have to make your way to the top. The very first enemies resemble the simplicity of Hollow Knight, but the similarities stop there. When you first meet the equivalent of the Last Stag in Silksong, you think: "I just unlocked fast travel". But wait! It's actually a boss! You start fighting them and think: "Oh, it's just like Moss Charger". But wait! There are bells falling from the ceiling and then you are dead. The fight was more complex than you thought. And that rings true to most things in Pharloom. Nothing is simple in Silksong. Enemies' moveset, health bar and damage don't prioritize the players' needs, they prioritize the world of Pharloom. The runback to the Last Judge wasn't made to waste your time. You must suffer climbing the blasted steps over and over again to be judged. That's the pilgrimage. That's the experience.
Silksong does immersion through, among other things, difficulty. Unlike most games, it's not a relaxing power fantasy made to cater to the players' needs. The world is hostile, sure, but it's alive and when you conquer it there's pure bliss. Of course, this approach alienates a lot of players. It's hard to talk about difficulty because it's relative, but I think it's fair to say that if you are a casual gamer, Hollow Knight is a hard game. If you are a more seasoned gamer, I would argue that the only hard parts of Hollow Knight are the While Palace (made easier by the right combination of charms), the Trial of the Fool and Path of Pain. To these players, Hollow Knight is an easy game - it barely has any challenging platforming and pogoing and i-frames can be abused during fights to the point that you can straight up face tank some enemies and bosses.
Silksong gets rid of all that. There are more platforming segments and the environment gives you 2 mask damage, so traversing some areas now are actually dangerous. There aren't any i-frames anymore and there are 2 masks contact damage, so players can no longer mindlessly slash foes away. Now you have to be careful and use the tools at your disposal. This makes Silksong a much harder game than it's predecessor. But I don't think it makes it a bad game in the slightest. On the contrary. Most games are made to cater to the player's needs. Hard games means frustrated people and losing money, but I don't think that Team Cherry cares for that. I'm glad they had the courage to make a game like Silksong and I'm glad to be able to experience for once a game world that wasn't made to please me.
Top Comment: I watched all their interviews I could find and this is something they always talked about. They love the games of older era before games became too "gamified". They like having rooms with no rewards just visual flavour, scenarios that do not reward player anything just the experience itself, things having weight and strong impression, like finally climbing deepnest without lamp after all the suffering only to fall through the ground back down... Good example is rosaries being rare early and abundant later as you climb up...its woven into the game's main theme and premise...its not an optimal mechanic for maximal player satisfaction, but it exists to be more immersive and cohesive with the world. You are in an area that is dilapitated, swampy, and hostile, and you find a mechanical bench that doesnt activate because it's gears are tangled with all the untended overgrown grass and moss...well yea that sucks but what else did you expect...

World News that doesn't revolve around the US
Main Post:
I love World News, and used to listen to the BBC World Service a lot - but it's just so filled with US news that I already get from living here. I want to know what's happening in the rest of the world - any suggestions?
Top Comment: In my experience, it's easier to subscribe to a variety of regional news shows (ex. Africa Daily for Africa, Pacific Beat for Oceania) than it is to find any single show that covers the entire world, especially if you're trying to avoid coverage of US stories.
What do you think the world will look like in 20 years?
Main Post:
I’m still young. My life is just starting. I wonder what it’ll be like in some time?
Will there be some major social and cultural changes? Or a lot of subtle ones? What would those be? Will there be a shift in the political climate in the US and the world? Technological advancement, perhaps?
It’s fascinating to see how we make progress as mankind. We’ve come such a long way in just the past century- a fraction of our entire time on earth- that leading the lives our grandparents did, seems almost unfathomable. The world has completely revolutionised. It’s nothing short of a wonder.
Just the past few decades have seen unprecedented social progress. Are we going to keep going at this pace? Will the world we get to be a part of in the future be a much safer, open, and accepting place? Or perhaps, the current progress we’re seeing is a culmination of the efforts of millions of people over a century. Protests, rebellion, violence, bloodshed. The Civil Rights Movement, The Suffragette Movement, The Gay Rights movement. And so many more. Perhaps, it’s too much to expect so much from two decades. Perhaps, the world will look mostly the same.
Either way, I look forward to the world I inherit. And the one I am yet to inherit.
I look forward to being a part of it, contributing to it, being a voice for change, and hopefully, making it a slightly better place.

New world is popping off rn
Main Post:
Game feels alive again and people are actually being social!
I made a new character to try out the new stuff they added and it’s been amazing so far. I’m excited to see what the future holds, the game finally feels like it’s moving in the right direction!
I sincerely hope it keeps this momentum going forward

What's the world record for highest SPM?
Main Post:
Hey everyone, we would like to go for the world record in SPM with ColonelWill but can't really find anything solid on what the world record actually is.
I would like to kindly ask you to tell me the following:
- what's the highest ESPM you've seen or built (production not consumption)
- what was the actual number of pots produced
- what UPS it was running at
- does the save use any mods (other than space age) and if so which ones
- which sciences were included (was prometheum also at X SPM)
- how long does the base consistently run at that SPM
Thank you in advance!
Top Comment: i built 1mil SPM base, at 60 ups (depends on where you are looking ofc).
